IBA Wins Runner-up at the third CFICC

Team IBA Chrome, consisting of students BBA 16th batch Hisham Haider Dewan, Tanvir Alam, Ashfaqul Haq Choudhury and Rafaat Wasik Ahmed, won the Runner-up award at the 3rd Citi Financial IT Case Competition (CFICC) along with prize money of USD 2,000 for its 'MFI-Base' project. The project 'MFI-Base' was to create a centralized credit information database for micro-finance institutions. This would allow micro-finance institutions to check the credit history of potential borrowers or clients before issuing loans using SMS, mobile browser or desktop browser. This will reduce default risk and create more transparency in the industry. The second feature of the project is to provide a loan management system for micro-finance institutions that do not have a modern information system.

This year, 65 teams from 22 public and private universities across the country participated in the contest. The teams competed at four different stages and the top five were chosen to compete in the final round held on October 1.
