Clean Sweep of IBA, DU in the Biggest Business Case Competition of Bangladesh:

Business Case Competition 2022, Organized by IBA in collaboration with HSBC, came to a successful conclusion on 27th of May at Sheraton Dhaka. Notable attendees included, chief guest of the ceremony, Md. Tofazzel Hossain Miah, Senior Secretary, Prime Minister's Office, special guest Faruque Hassan, President of BGMEA, Md Mahbub ur Rahman, CEO of HSBC Bangladesh and Prof. Mohammad A. Momen, Director, IBA. Upholding the legacy of previous teams from IBA, this year's competition was a clean sweep, with 3 of the winning teams being from IBA. Team Ramen consisting of Afnan Faruk, Syed Shadab Tajwar, Abdullah Azwad Rafeed and Sadman Sakib Pantho from BBA 27th, IBA were announced the meritorious champions, with Team Extra Drill, consisting of Sibbir Riyan, Akibur Rahman, Ferdous Hasan and Faiyaz Uddin Ayeshik bagging the first runners-up position and Felix Felicis, consisting of Sadid Murshed, Rifayat Zafeer Wafee, Tasmim Sultana and Basma Rahman swept the second runners-up position in the grand finale of the competition. This was the 6th national round win for an IBA team at the HSBC-IBA Business Case Competition.

Ever since its inception of the Business Case Competition in 2013, IBA has been organizing this business case competition in collaboration with HSBC to provide a platform for students across the country to test their abilities and to contribute to the overall skill development process of students. This year was no different with 40 teams participating from 24 Universities across Bangladesh, the competition was rigorous. The 5 finalist teams were faced with a case that tested the participants’ ability to apply their knowledge and come up with innovative ideas to solve problems that are predominant in the world of business that we see today. This year’s teams were judged by an esteemed panel of judges which included Mr. Dan Pasha of Trade and Investment British High Commission Dhaka, Mr. Mahir Ahmed Director of Apex Holdings Ltd, Mr. Asif Ashraf Managing director of Urmi Group, Mr. Sami Ahmed Managing Director Startup Bangladesh. The participants were faced with an array of disputing questions but in the end, the 3 teams stood victorious, all from BBA 27th batch of IBA. Despite the challenges they were faced with these teams managed to demonstrate their critical problem-solving skills and emerge successful with 3 very well-deserved wins. Team Ramen will be representing IBA and Bangladesh in the regional rounds of the competition along with champion teams from other Asian countries. IBA takes great pride and joy in this outstanding accomplishment of its students and wishes the winning team the very best for the future.
