Research and Publication Fair 2024

In a vibrant showcase of research excellence and innovation, all 13 institutes of Dhaka University including the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) jointly organized a day-long Research and Publication Fair on February 11, 2024, at the IBA premises. Convened by the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT), the event provided a platform for IBA and other institutes of the University of Dhaka to highlight their ongoing research endeavors and future aspirations.

The inaugural ceremony commenced at 10 am in the M. Shafiullah Auditorium at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, graced by the esteemed presence of Professor Dr. A. S. M. Maksud Kamal, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, who inaugurated the fair as the chief guest. Joining him were distinguished guests including Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic), and Professor Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Treasurer of the University of Dhaka. Professor Mohammad A. Momen, Director of IBA, extended a warm welcome to all attendees at the beginning of the session. The convener of the Research and Publication Fair, Professor Dr. Tamanna Howlader, Director of ISRT, University of Dhaka, presided over the inaugural session. Balloons were released as a symbolic gesture to mark the beginning of the research fair. Following this, all the distinguished guests toured the stalls of the institutes, taking a closer look at their exhibits.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of fostering industry-academia linkages and strengthening quality publication, impactful research, and innovation endeavors. He underscored the need for researchers to transcend the mere pursuit of research in name only, urging them to channel their efforts towards impactful contributions to the sustainable socio-economic development of the nation. Highlighting the essence of innovation, he articulated that true innovation lies in developments that translate into tangible products, driving socio-economic and cultural progress.

The fair featured a variety of activities including slideshows, panel discussions, and students' and faculty members’ poster presentations, from all institutes. IBA hosted a dedicated research seminar session, during which several esteemed faculty members showcased their latest research endeavors.

Participants engaged in insightful discussions, fostering collaboration with representatives from various industries who visited the research fair, throughout the day. Each institute showcased its research activities and articulated its vision for the future, echoing the university's commitment to scholarly excellence and societal advancement.
